Koala Kuddles
Mar 11th, 2010 by admin

Now that Spring is “almost” here, are you looking for that perfect lightweight blanket for your little one?  We recently received the new, Austin based, muslin swaddle blanket from Koala Kuddles , and we’re in love! As a firm believer in swaddling as long as humanly possible, we were so excited to test out this new product!  Yes, it’s true that the material of your blanket makes a huge difference when determining whether or not swaddling is going to be successful for your baby…  We had great success with flannel blankets when swaddling Alex 3 years ago, but muslin seems to be the way to go for Harrison. The Koala Kuddle s blankets are just the right size for swaddling babies from 0 -3 months.  Now that he is approaching the 4-month mark {tomorrow!} he is getting a little too long for these blankets.  That said, with the adorable animal print design & the softer with every wash, breathable muslin fabric, our Koala Kuddles days are far from over! I had really been stressing over making sure Harrison had a beloved lovey or blankie, like my other two children did.  Well my friends, I think the Koala Kuddles blanket has made it’s way into Harrison’s heart {and mine}.  It is the perfect size for keeping him cozy in his car seat, stroller & even baby swing.  He loves to have it close to his face, and he loves to feel the soft muslin fibers between his fingers.  I love the Koala Kuddles for keeping him shielded from the sun {which we hope to do a lot next week in Disney World!} & I use it regularly as a nursing cover.  It provides just the right amount of weight to keep him warm, but not too hot.

PeeKoo Bedding {FREE SHIPPING}
Mar 11th, 2010 by admin

First off, when it comes to bedding {especially toddler and twin bedding} selection is very microscopic!  You may find the perfect duvet or comforter only to not be able to find a matching sheet set OR your child grows out of the bed too quickly and you have to buy yet another entire set!  PLUS, I don’t know about you, but my taste in bedding changes with the seasons!  It’s ideal to find something that works from toddler-hood on up through elementary school until they are ready for a more grown-up room and bigger bed.  The best part about today’s bedding company…a duvet and sheet all-in-one…let me enlighten you… Like I said, a duvet cover WITH A SHEET ATTACHED!  No more searching the bottom of the bed for the sheet that got shoved down there or untangling your little monster from the sheets while he/she sleeps, PeeKoo Bedding has developed a remarkable {patent pending} and fashionable way to keep the sheet in place!  I have never been more pleased with a bedding set!  Our sample from PeeKoo bedding is the one above, Drew’s Zoo, and I love it!  I’ve admired the animal pattern mainly because I have other items that match it perfectly in the nursery and now that my 4 year old and 21 month old share a bedroom, we needed to incorporate baby and big boy all in one…so this theme works out brilliantly!  Connor is still in a toddler bed and even when my 8 year old was in a toddler bed I could never find the perfect bedding with matching sheet set.  There’s just nothing good out there when it comes to toddler bedding, plus…why spend that kind of money when they’ll be in a bigger bed so quickly.  We use our Twin PeeKoo Bedding Duvet in our toddler bed and it works perfectly!  Sure it’s a bit big, but in my opinion that’s all the more to snuggle with and stay warm.  It looks awesome and it will grow with Connor as he grows.  Once the twin bunk beds are in place at the end of the Summer, I don’t have to worry about new bedding for him which is a HUGE stress reliever for me!  BUT, have no fear, if you do need the bigger Full size bedding, PeeKoo Bedding has that too! Now, the attached sheet…yes you can remove it to wash it, yes it really does stay in place,  yes it matches everything since the sheets are solid coordinating colors, and YES, PeeKoo Bedding also sells the matching fitted sheets and pillowcases so no worry on that end either!  Check out how to fill your duvet and attach the top sheet here , it’s so simple and the end result is so sharp!  Boy Designs or Girl Designs {oh how I love the girlie ones…}, stripes, dots, firetrucks, and more…you’ll find a coordinating PeeKoo Bedding set to match any decor you already have in place or if you’re in the process of creating that big boy/big girl room, start here!  And FREE SHIPPING on all orders over $100 with the code LUXE at checkout.

We’re all wondering what’s wrong with the kids of today. Why can’t they amuse themselves, behave themselves and do things for themselves? Why is there so much bullying, disrespect, vandalism, drug taking, sexualised behaviour and violence

Momma’s Jewels {FREE SHIPPING}
Mar 10th, 2010 by admin

Don’t you just love when you can throw on one fabulous accessory that really makes a statement?  Something that draws the oohs, ahhs & questions about its origin {as in, “Where did you get that necklace?  I simply must have one!”} like no other.  And when that special something is practical too, well friends, life doesn’t get a whole lot better than that! That is exactly how I feel about my gorgeous new necklace from Momma’s Jewels !  I was very lucky to receive a sample of their gorgeous one-ring sterling silver necklace , for review. As you know by now, we here at BabyElan {especially myself} are real suckers for practical baby products!  But after testing out products and writing for nearly 3 years, we’ve also become slightly partial to what we do and don’t find to be practical AND luxurious!  Well, Momma’s Jewels certainly fits the bill in our book!  Wear it to look gorgeous while letting your sweet little cherub suck on it for soothing teething relief! This is no flimsy plastic necklace ladies.  This is a real “push present” if I have ever seen one! The benefits of a Momma’s Jewels necklace are great.  Because it is made from 100% sterling silver, it is safe for baby to suck on and play with, and it is easy to clean.  The cool silver soothes baby’s gums while teething.  It has an endless chain, so there are no loose pieces for baby to accidentally get a hold of.  The rings are hollow, which makes wearing the necklace that much more enjoyable; it’s light and refreshing!  So there you go, it’s completely obvious that a lot of care and attention to detail went into the design of this collection

Precious Layla Grace
Mar 9th, 2010 by admin

At around 1:30pm this afternoon, I found myself shut in a bathroom stall at my office sobbing uncontrollably, feeling deep pain for a family I never met, a family I feel ever so close too just by watching from a far  {along with thousands upon thousands of others} as they embarked on a journey of pure faith, as they made the decision to update the world on a continuous basis of their precious daughter’s fight against cancer.  We are not the only ones to mourn over the loss of sweet little Layla Grace today, and we pray her parents, her sisters, her loved ones and friends, take comfort in the fact that thousands of strangers worldwide are profoundly touched by the story of their baby girl! Please take a moment to pray to the heavens {whether you are home or at your desk}, pray for Layla Grace’s family, pray for their strengthen and courage during this difficult time, pray for peace in their lives and in yours.  It’s amazing how strangers can affect you in such a dramatic way, we’re sadden that the world is one special child less, yet there’s peace in the ending of her pain.  Take the time today to hold your children just a bit tighter before you send them off to school or practice or bed, take a step back from your hectic life and cherish what you have…cancer, a car accident, god’s will, can take someone you love from you in a matter of months, weeks, days, or seconds!  I’m no where near the perfect parent or wife I strive to be, and days like today make me regret my faults, yet treasure the simplest moments.
